Summer Evening OOTD - Boohoo

Although it is coming to the end of summer I am still loving wearing florals and bright colours. It was a friends birthday recently and I was looking for an outfit that was classy but fun and above all else summery. After a few days searching for something that was not only all of the above but also a reasonable price I decided to try Boohoo. I have always found Boohoo to be a bit hit and miss, with pieces either being quite cheap looking or actually very good quality but I am so impressed with the quality of these pieces and I will definitely be trying a few more bits from the website.

I decided to go for a top and midi skirt option as I like being able to mix and match things and I just loved the print of this skirt. With a total price of £28 for the entire outfit I thought it was a total bargain and the quality is actually amazing. I teamed this with some mint green heels and matching clutch bag from Faith to pick out the colour in the skirt and I loved how it looked.

I hope you liked this kind of post, its not something I usually do but I really enjoyed it.

Our DIY Wedding Invites

When we first got engaged I knew I wanted to do a lot of the details myself. This was partly due to the fact I thought it would be cheaper and also because I had spent an obscene amount of time on Pinterest and knew exactly what I wanted.

Before we had even chosen a date we had a theme in mind, a country garden party with lots of wild flowers, hessian and twine. So when it came to designing our invites I wanted to incorporate that in some way. Luckily for me, my mum is the most creative person I knew and had lots of ideas. We ordered lots of different materials from eBay and played around with a few options before settling on natural paper and cream card with a hessian and lace header. We also added a little wooden heart on the top of each invite.

Once we knew what we wanted and we had all the details confirmed I set about designing the wording and making sure all of the information was included. I found this the most difficult bit I think as I wanted something that was informal and simple but still said everything it needed to in a cute way. If you want to use the same wording then please go ahead. I still have all the templates for everything so if anybody wants to use them then just drop me an email and I can send them over to you.

I really wanted a way of keeping everything together in the envelope so that when it was taken out it was still all in tact rather than bits of paper all over the place. I chose to wrap a thick piece of hessian around all of the different pieces of information with a lilac bow in the centre to set everything off as this was the colour of our bridesmaid dresses and although I didn't want to give too much away, I wanted to incorporate the colour somehow.

I then got all my bridesmaids, my mum and the mother of the groom and we had a night of cutting, sticking and tying all of the invites together before putting them in the envelopes and sealing them with this adorable stamp from Hobby Craft.

I absolutely love the way they turned out and although they probably ended up costing us more than if we had brought them ready made, I love the memories I have of making them and that they are completely unique to us.

And The Bride Wore Dior...

Choosing a fragrance for our wedding day was something I put a lot of thought into. If any of you have read this blog for a while you will know that I love perfume and the way just the smell of a certain scent can take you back to a distinct moment in time.

I knew I wanted something classic, from a brand with staying power, that I knew I would be able to repurchase time after time to remind me of the most magical day. With that in mind I grabbed my mum and we hit the Debenhams beauty hall to try and find 'The One'. After what felt like a lifetime wandering round with our heads in a floral fragrance cloud I narrowed it down to Chanel and Dior as to me these are the height of luxury and also fit the 'classic' criteria.

Miss Dior stood out amongst all of the other beautiful bottles and once I smelt it I knew that was the one. It is sweet but not sickly, powerful but not too in your face. I knew it would last the day and leave a trail as I passed which is exactly what I wanted. It is also a scent that I can wear for years to come, I think a lot of perfumes tend to suit different age ranges and as I have got older the scents I liked in my teens don't appeal to me anymore. I don't think that will be the case with Miss Dior and I think it will always be a staple in my fragrance collection.

I also love that I could still smell it on my dress the next morning as I packed it away!! What perfume did you wear on your wedding day? Is it just me that feels this passionately about scents and their ability to send you off down memory lane?

Time flies...

The last 3 months have possibly been the fastest of my life, it feels like yesterday I decided not to post any more until after the wedding. Well the wedding has been and gone!

It was the most amazing day, filled with so much love and many happy memories that I cannot wait to share with you all. I plan on doing a whole series of posts about the wedding and all the little bits we made or created for the day as well as sharing lots of photos from the day itself.

We have also had the most incredible 2 weeks in Kenya which I cannot wait to tell you all about. It was unlike any holiday I have ever been on and we returned feeling blissfully happy and relaxed.

Now it is time to get stuck in to making our gorgeous house a home. Although we managed to get a lot of it done before the wedding we have had a few set backs so still have a bit more to do before I can do before and after photos. I plan on showing you all of the progress along the way so keep an eye out for some posts on that very soon.

Of course my love for beauty, baking and bargains will still be very much a focus on this blog and I really hope I find the perfect balance for you all.

Of course as always if you have any questions, requests or comments feel free to leave a comment and I will be sure to reply.
Its good to be back.
